Researchers with the Iowa Geological Survey fill discovered fossils belonging to a modern species of scorpion that patrolled the oceans over 460 million years ago.
These aren't the one to three inch scorpions seen scampering around your campsite. They were bigger—much bigger—an estimated 5.5 feet long.
