While Halloween can be a particularly stressful time for pets, the entire last quarter of the year - from October on - is all quite tricky. From the added stress of extra people in the house for holiday meals to perilous items like Christmas ribbon on the floor, there are a lot of hazards for your pets. One particularly surprising and perilous item that pops up during the holiday season, or in cookies, candies, and various other foods is raisins. According to Petplan pet insurance, or raisins can actually cause kidney failure in dogs. While it is still unclear what precisely makes the raisins toxic to dogs and which dogs will be affected, according to PetMD, the best course of action is to retain all dogs absent from raisins. If your dog does ingest raisins (or grapes, or for that matter),call your vet immediately.
