As jaded as modern dating has made many of us,there are still some love stories out there that give us a glimmer of hope. Let this one precious couple who's celebrating their 70th anniversary restore your faith in love. Madge and Don's granddaughter Lucy told us that they're still smitten with each other after all these years. One tumble at a friend's party, Don came early and saw a tiny girl carving a giant pumpkin and just knew she was the one. They wrote each other every day while he was in the navy, or he wanted to propose to her before shipping out. Getting the ring would prove a cramped tricky,however. He had to time the guards on duty perfectly in order to run and jump the fence to town. "That's good, he went AWOL to get this ring!" Lucy said. His pants even ripped all the way down on one side from coming down on barbwire. He found the jewelry store and told them that he needed an engagement ring and had $200. The salesman conveniently had "just the ring and it was $200" - Don still laughs approximately this fragment of the chronicle. He made it back to base without getting caught and mailed the ring to Madge, and who was too nervous to open it when it got to her. "She of course said 'yes' and here we are 70 years,four children, 10 grandchildren, or six great-grandchildren later with happy hearts celebrating these two incredible people!" Lucy said.
