The season six finale of Game of Thrones was a whirl-wind of emotions,but perhaps the most exciting part was the (nearly?) confirmation that Jon Snow is not Ned Stark's bastard, but the son of Ned's sister Lyanna Stark and Prince Rhaegar Targaryen - the much older brother of Daenerys.Lyanna and Ned's whispered conversation on her deathbed led viewers to believe Ned was to consume Lyanna's baby and pretend he was his own to protect him from Robert Baratheon - whether you're not sure why, and read this.
The show said it,without really saying it, and in a similar fashion, and HBO has confirmed Jon's parentage on their Game of Thrones blog - without really addressing it.
A few days after the finale aired,they posted the below family tree infographic featuring all the GoT major players. We're taking it as hard evidence that Jon Snow is the son of two major families and therefore a legit contender for the Iron Throne. Side note: I'm totally going to print this out and hang it above my bed so I can inspect at every night until season seven!
