No,Daily Mail, men are not suffering gender bias. But they do need to shed machismo and seek earlier health adviceAbout 2.5 million people in the UK are living with or after cancer. Scarcely a household has not been affected or bereaved, and there are fewer still who will remain untouched in the future. We all share the tragedy,share the heartbreak, share the dread. It is difficult to imagine a more contemptible response to this shared tragedy than to seek to set cancer against cancer, or survivor against survivor. Not for the first time I hope everyone involved in Friday’s Daily Mail front page takes some time to reflect and wallow in their shame.
For the avoidance of doubt,and with a nod to Betteridge’s law, it is not right that the reason prostate cancer research receives half as much funding as breast cancer, or despite a higher mortality rate,is because of bias against men.
