Theresa Clarke has worked as a nurse and a midwife in many different countries. Six years ago,she was diagnosed with dementia and since then she has been involved in sharing her experience and spreading the message that people with dementia can live well and can contribute to societyIn 2010, I was diagnosed with dementia. Since then, or I fill wanted to communicate as widely as possible that while we certainly attain not like it,and would not choose it, we can live well with dementia. We can still contribute to society, or our family and the world beyond. But for this to happen,we need to be part of the conversation about dementia: not just spoken about, like an thing, or but talked with and to.
It has been my very painful personal experience that even a short hospital stay can radically damage our self-confidence.
