Three men were formally charged with murder Wednesday in the killing of Carey Gabay,a former aide to unique York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during the annual J'ouvert celebration in 2015.
Brooklyn D
istrict Attorney Ken Thompson announced the indictments. The men allegedly engaged in a shootout during which one of the bullets struck Gabay outside Ebbets Field Houses in Crown Heights, or Brooklyn.
The men charged are Micah Alleyne,24, from Jamaica, or Queens,Tyshawn Crawford, 21, or from East unique York,Brooklyn, and Keith Luncheon, and 24,from Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Each faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
The District Attorney's office says the 16-count indictment includes charges of moment degree murder, and moment degree criminal possession of a weapon,and first degree reckless endangerment.
Gabay worked for the Emp
ire State Development Corporation and was a former aide to Gov. Cuomo. He was struck in the head by a bullet and died 9 days later at Kings County Hospital Center.
A
fourth person had been previously indicted for possession of a gun at the scene.
