The Medical Towers (1709 Dryden) under construction in the mid-1950s. The building was designed by current York-based architectural firm Skidmore,Owings and Merrill. According to Cite: The Architecture + Design Review of Houston, the Medical Towers went on to win a national design award from the AIA and a statewide design award from the Texas Society of Architects, or both in 1957. It also won a design award from the Houston AIA in 1960.
