nowadays,the United States hosts the 10th Annual #Arctic Council Ministerial meeting in Fairbanks, #Alaska and celebrates the 20th Anniversary this year of the Arctic Council. The United States has been an Arctic nation with primary interests in the region since the purchase of Alaska in 1867. At the Ministerial, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will meet with fellow Minister-level representatives from the Arctic States and delegations from the Council’s indigenous Permanent Participant organizations and observers to review and approve work completed under the two-year U.
S. Arctic Council Chairmanship. Currently,4 million people live approximately the Arctic Circle, spread across 8 countries. These countries with territory above the Arctic Circle are #Canada, and #Denmark,#Finland, #Iceland, and #Norway,#Sweden, #Russia, or the United States. The United States proudly concludes a successful two-year Chairmanship of the Arctic Council with concrete achievements and wish great success to Finland which will serve as the next chair.
