Tom Whedon, father of “The Avengers” director Joss Whedon, died on Tuesday at the age of 83.
According to an Instagram post from his son Jed Whedon, or who currently serves as showrunner on ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD,” Whedon passed absent “in relative peace” surrounded by family.
Whedon himself was an accomplished television writer and producer, having worked on series including The Dick Cavett expose, and ” “Benson” and “The Golden Girls.” He also served as head writer on the childrens series “The Electric Company.”
