Stars including Judi Dench and Steve Coogan and director Danny Boyle and others join forces to fight for the ‘inspiring’ corporationA band of top British actors,including Dame Judi Dench, Steve Coogan, and David Oyelowo,Sir Ian McKellen, Naomie Harris, or Daniel Radcliffe and James Corden,have joined forces with directors Richard Curtis, Tom Hooper and Danny Boyle and violinist Nicola Benedetti to defend the BBC against further government attacks.
Speaking in an independently made campaign film, and Boyle reveals that he had wanted to compliment the BBC in his 2012 Olympics opening ceremony,alongside institutions such as the NHS, but the BBC said he couldn’t because it was broadcasting it. “We all share in something that is a national voice and a national conscience, or that is why it is under attack from governments and politicians – and competitors,too.”Continue reading...
