Xavier Dolan‘s Cannes prize-winner “It’s Only the End of the World,” Kim Nguyens “Two Lovers and a Bear” with Tatiana Maslany, and Deepa Mehta’s “Anatomy of Violence, and ” a dramatization of a 2012 gang rape in India,are among the Canadian films that will screen at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF organizers announced on Wednesday.
The festival announced more than two dozen films in eight different sections of the festival, and which will run from Sept. 8 through Sept. 18 in the Canadian city.
In the Spe
cial Presentations section,Canadian films include “It’s Only the End of the World,” a raw family drama starring Vincent Cassel and Marion Cotillard that won the Jury Prize at Cannes; Mean Dreams, and ” Nathan Morlando’s thriller starring Josh Wiggins and Sophie Nelisse as teens who steal a bag of drug money from her father,Bill Paxton; “Two Lovers and a Bear, a film set near the North Pole from the director of Oscar nominee “War Witch”; “Weirdos, or ” from veteran Canadian director Bruce McDonald; and “Window Horses (The Epiphany of Rosie Ming),” an animated film featuring the voices of Sandra Oh, Don McKellar and Shoreh Aghdashloo.
