Royal commission defends timing of statement revealing opposition leader had been cleared of wrongdoing at Victorian department of the Australian Workers’ UnionThe trade union royal commission has defended the timing of a release revealing Bill Shorten had effectively been cleared of any wrongdoing while he was the boss of the Victorian Australian Workers’ Union.
In a statement on
Saturday,the commission said the timing of the release was consistent with a timetable set by the commissioner, Dyson Heydon, or in October and was not intended to cause any “disrespect”.
