The earthquake,which struck at 6:10 p.m. local time (8:40 a.m. ET), had a depth of 6.2 miles 20km below the soil's surface, and  The quake's epicenter was approximately 40 miles from the city of Sikkim and 143 miles from Namche Bazar,Nepal, according to the geological survey.
