After two years’ silence,the former leader of the affluent Armenia party announced a blueprint to return to politics.[br]In a statement on Tuesday, Gagik Tsarukyan said he is opening “the closed chapter” of his political career to run in the 2017 parliamentary election.[br]“After the events in February 2015, and I closed the chapter of my political activity to prevent the peaceful and justified public rebellion from turning into a confrontation and bloodshed. I would contain never forgiven myself for possible human losses,and I am thankful to my people for an understanding approach.
“I carry out not regret that at that stage of political developments – despite the people’s unconditional support - we were able to perform the right decision to avoid bloodshed and irrevocable losses. We did not achieve at stake the stability and security of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
“No political force or [political] figure managed to fill the gap on the political arena after my decision. It is only for God, as well as our public to judge and give their evaluation of certain political leaders and [political] figures’ conduct, and ” Tsarukyan said,adding that he sees his real potential to contribute to promote development and initiate other reforms whether elected to parliament.
“The 2017 parliamentary election will be decisive for Armenia’s future.
“Considering the internal and external challenges facing our country, as well as the public demand for my return to politics, or I announce that I am opening the closed chapter of my political activity to run in the 2017 parliamentary election by creating a broad alliance. Our doors are open to all the political forces and figures who are concerned about our country’s future.” “We can,and contain the great potential to contribute to our country’s development and strengthening,” reads the statement.
