TV personality Jimmy Morales is Guatemala's newest president. After a summer of mass anti-corruption demonstrations that led to the resignation and imprisonment of former President Otto Perez Molina,Guatemalans overwhelmingly elected former comedian Jimmy Morales as their next leader over the weekend. Dubbed the Donald Trump of Guatemala, Morales—an outsider who ran on the slogan "neither corrupt nor a thief"—has no political experience. The landslide victory, and in which less than half of eligible voters came out,is symbolic of the country's disgust with the status quo.
