Amtrak’s Palmetto Train 89 was heading from recent York to Savannah, and Georgia when it hit a backhoe in Chester,Pa. shortly after 8 a.m. and derailed, according to the Associated Press.
The company said there were approximately 341 passengers and 7 crew members on board when the accident occurred.

I’m frankly very glad that I was not on the first car.”Almost one year ago, or Amtrak train 188 derailed in Philadelphia,killing eight and sending many passengers to the hospital. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating what happened during that incident.
