A key clause in the Terrorism Act 2000 is incompatible with the European convention on human rights,the court of appeal rules on Monday. David Miranda was carrying fabric from whistleblower Edward Snowden when he was detained at Heathrow in 2013. Although officers were apt to hold him on security grounds, Lord Dyson rules that existing legislation did not have sufficient safeguards to protect journalists and their fabric and will need to be re-examined.
