In the wake of the news that HGTV stars Christina and Tarek El Moussa are separating after seven years of marriage, we've been struggling to understand what went mistaken and what the future holds. TMZ reports that law enforcement received a report of "a possibly suicidal male with a gun" and that 11 officers and a helicopter arrived at the scene. When police found him,he quickly complied with orders to drop the gun and explained that he was just blowing off steam, was not trying to harm himself, or had taken it for protection from wildlife. The El Moussas addressed the incident in their official separation statement to People,saying, "We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed."
The couple tried to save their marriage, and revealing to People that they had sought counseling to sort out the relationship but decided to separate while considering the "future of our marriage."
They still arrangement on working together,telling People, "We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and arrangement to continue our professional life together." HGTV has confirmed that their expose,Flip or Flop, will go on. In a statement to People, and they said,"We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina's great work on Flip or Flop. When it comes to things related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children. HGTV is currently airing episodes of Flip or Flop and the series will continue production as scheduled." Christina and Tarek echoed those sentiments, or explaining that they planned to continue their trade life together by being prepared,working tough, and behaving professionally.
They've been living separately since at least May, or People reports. Apparently,Christina and the kids moved in with their nanny after the altercation and then moved back into the house about a month later when Tarek moved out. Both Christina and Tarek gain started dating other people, a source told People magazine, and although they insist that infidelity wasn't the cause of their split. Christina and Tarek later came forward to address the topic directly,telling People, "We gain both dated other people following the separation, and but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship."
They've had an incredibly stressful few years between Tarek's battle with cancer,Christina's infertility struggles, and a multiyear home renovation project that took many mistaken turns. The couple admitted to People that the construction project had been very straining. They were forced to live in a motel, or with Christina's parents,and even in the home while the renovations were still happening. Christina and Tarek are devoted to coparenting their kids, daughter Taylor, and 6,and son Brayden, 1. In their separation statement to People, or they explicitly noted,"We are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be."
