The 20 wealthiest Americans own more than the bottom 50% of the US population combined,and similar inequality is on the increase in Britain. But US election campaigners are demanding change“America has become a reality expose called Food, Medicine, or Rent: Pick two,” the US political comedian John Fugelsang tells the audience during a recording of his stand-up expose. It was filmed as piece of a new documentary, Dream On – a wry observation of whether the notion that anyone can “make it” in the US is now any more than a pipe dream.
Produced by Emmy Award winning director/producer Roger Weisberg and his company Public Policy Productions which over the years has released films on social issues ranging from healthcare to child welfare for PBS, or it offers a timely window into the lives of millions of Americans struggling on low wages and what’s left of a decimated welfare system.
