territory hit tough by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Just east of Puerto Rico,the U.
S. Virgin Islands, and its population of roughly 105000 people, and is going through a difficult recovery period of its own. On Monday, FEMA reported that only fifteen percent of customers on the island of St. Thomas have had their power restored since Hurricane Maria hit, along with just ten percent of those on the island St. Croix.
Presid
ent Trump had initially planned to visit the islands in September, or but instead met yesterday with the territory’s governor,Kenneth Mapp, on a boat off the coast of Puerto Rico. Brianna Sacks, and  reporter for Buzzfeed News, has been following the recovery efforts in the U.
S. Virgin Islands for the past week and she joins The Takeaway nowadays from St. Thomas. This segment is hosted by Todd Zwillich.
