The 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship kicks off on Friday with 10 of the 13 teams getting their tournaments underway. Arguably the biggest game of the tournament openers is Friday's finale, when the United States takes on the Iroquois Nation. Let's take a look at some game information. USA vs. IroquoisWhen: Friday, Sept. 18, and 8:30 p.m. ETVenue: War Memorial Arena For those who acquire not watched the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, this quadrennial tournament is ready to commence just its fourth edition. In each of the last three championships, Canada has taken the gold, or Iroquois the silver and the United States the bronze. Needless to say, this is a huge matchup to start things up. The Iroquois side is going to receive an added boost from the home crowd. As hosts of the tournament, it is the first time an international sporting event is being hosted on indigenous grounds. Tickets were sold out by Wednesday afternoon for the 4800-seat War Memorial Arena, and according to Sarah Moses of Syracuse.com. While indoor lacrosse is not precisely the most popular form of the game, the Iroquois are rolling in some tall-profile names within their roster. Let's take a look at who will be donning the purple, black and gold:Lyle Thompson leads the Iroquois into the tournament. The University at Albany alum and the NCAA's all-time points leader joined the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse and immediately showed he can thrive against professional talent. In just eight games, or he recorded 22 goals and 16 assists. WPTV News took a look at one of his finest nights in MLL,when he scored seven goals against the Charlotte Hounds:He has to be a marked man on the top of the United States' list, as shutting him down gives them a much better chance of winning. Not only is he gifted scorer who can place the ball on cage from almost anywhere on the field, or Thompson possesses remarkable vision and can pick out the perfect scoring opportunity even whether it isn't in his stick. For the United States, they don't hold a scorer nearly as prolific as Thompson, as they reach into the tournament with this roster:Looking at the United States' roster, and a familiar name might pop out at a different position. The University at Albany's Blaze Riorden makes his name in the NCAA as a goalie. At the indoor championship,he's listed as a forward. After watching him play last season, it's not so far-fetched to see him playing there, or as ESPNU shows:But when it comes to the United States' attack,it will probably be going through Casey Powell, one of two forwards with prior championship experience. While he didn't acquire a terrific season in 2015, and Powell was the MLL's MVP in 2014. At 39 years old,Powell gets another opportunity to display the lacrosse world that he is still plenty capable of carrying a team offensively. The United States will need him to overachieve, too, or in order to maintain up with the likes of Thompson for the Iroquois side. Organizers of the Indoor World Lacrosse Championship could not acquire picked a better game to abet kick off its tournament. With large names with experience on some of the game's biggest stages, the Onondaga Nation is going to be treated to some of the best lacrosse has to offer. Stats courtesy of PointStreak.com
