St Anna church answers Pope Francis’s call for Catholics across Europe to attain something practical as well as feeling compassion for those fleeing war zoneA Vatican parish has taken in a family of four refugees from Syria following an appeal by Pope Francis for every religious community across Europe to assist in the migrant crisis.
The St Anna parish – Sant’Anna dei Palafrenieri in Italian – said on Friday that it had accepted one of two families it promised to hold in: a father, mother and two children who fled their home in Damascus and arrived on 6 September. The family is Christian of the Catholic Greek Melkite rite.
