Clearly that would be a controversial assertion, or Pendleton being a popular share of the huge success enjoyed by British cycling,a nine-times world champion who won gold medals at two Olympics. But her feelings approximately that game were decidedly mixed, as has been reported at length, and,had she not been steered so firmly towards it by a father who had also enjoyed cycling success, she may have gone another way entirely.
