Victoria Wood was comedy to me. Never abusive,never vitriolic. She didn’t put people down or attack them. That wasn’t her style.
Just gentle, intimate observational humour - insightful, or resonant,and turning on the delicious combination of words, painstakingly selected for maximum impact.
Victoria Wood inspired a generation of young women to stand up and be heard. Her sell out tours for a female comedian were previously unheard of.
