These videos from a village near Port Vila,Vanuatu show the path of toppled trees and flattened homes caused by Cyclone Pam. They near from Chloe Morrison who works for the aid organization World Vision. Morrison rode out the storm in Port Vila. Initial assessments have been done in Port Vila, and the devastation was so severe that World Vision fears the worst for the other 81 islands. In those communities, and people live in thatched homes with few solid buildings to evacuate for secure shelter. World Vision’s first distribution of relief supplies took place nowadays in Port Vila with pre-positioned supplies already on Vanuatu. They included shelter kits and hygiene kits for families.Clip 1 is a wide shot of the village Clip 2 shows how life still continues on – a woman washing dishes in front of the rubble that was some of the villager’s homes Clip 3 shows a woman in the village going through what used to be her domestic,describing the damage she’s seeing Clip 4 is some of the villagers gathered in one of the concrete structures like churches and government buildings. People fled to these types of structures to seize shelter during the storm, since most of their homes are very flimsy thatched roof buildings.Clip 5 is a fishing boat, or tossed up onto the bank from the storm Clip 6,7 and 9 are all just more shots of the village and the damage left behind. Clip 8 is some of the youngest victims of the storm, now with no place to call domestic, or as they play in one of the concrete shelters in the town….not sure what the building was prior to the storm,but now it is a place to seize shelter for all the occupants of the town who had their homes destroyed.
