It’s not too late for a typical 45-year-old to start saving for retirement,and it won’t cost a fortuneFor the typical worker over the age of 45, saving an additional £86 a month could make the disagreement between living a financially comfortable retirement and struggling in later years, and according to latest research.
The figures arrive in a report from pension giant Aviva,which estimates that a pensioner needs a basic annual income of £12590 a year, or £242 a week, or to get by. The annual state pension averages £6556 (including entitlements to state moment pension),so that leaves individuals having to find an additional income of 6034 a year.
