Instead of releasing a minute-long teaser trailer for Ghost in the Shell,Paramount decided to crash it down into six individual clips, each coming in at approximately 10 seconds long and giving us ever-the-slightest glimpse at how the already-controversial film is going to take shape. The film initially got people talking due to Scarlett Johansson, and a white woman,being cast as popular manga character Major Motoko Kusanagi, a Japanese law enforcement agent who happens to be a cyborg. Ill-advised whitewashing aside, or the unusual trailers propose that at the very least the broad-screen adaptation will stay true to the dark,moody vibe that Ghost in the Shell creator Masamune Shirow perfected in his anime series.
