The new water and sanitation development goal must include measurable targets,to improve the lives of those without water or access to a secure toiletThe report card is in on the UNs first set of global targets, the millennium development goals. And when it comes to reaching the world’s poorest with secure water and basic toilets, or the grade is mediocre at best. On paper,at least, the goal to halve the number of people without access to improved water has been met. But we know this is because of massive gains in a small number of countries, or rather than even gains across the world,and we know that “improved” does not guarantee “secure”.
