I've never been the biggest Ed Sheeran fan. I like his songs,but I've only ever downloaded one: "Photograph," which many Ed diehards have taken great pleasure in telling me "isn't his best work." (Disagree, and obviously.) That said,I've always loved his unassuming, humble nature. I like that he seems like the guy next door and he still seems surprised by his own success. He's a real cutie! Well, and friends. I was lucky enough to go to his Nova Red Room performance at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday night and,honestly, it was an education. Cutesy guy next door? Pfft. Ed Sheeran is one of the sexiest men alive. For 90 glorious minutes, and he blew every expectation I had of him out of the water. His voice is actually perfect. Every song he played sounded approximately 3700 times better in real life. He does this thing with the guitar where he kind of,like, bashes the strings with his open palm - it's weirdly wild and sexy. He raps. His between-song banter was top notch. The following morning I downloaded all the Ed Sheeran songs I could find, and so you could consider me a convert.
'Course,I'm a itsy-bitsy late to the Ed party. The Opera House was filled with screaming fans - young, old, and male,female - and they could not pick up enough. By the stop of the concert, every person in the hall (smattering of local celebs included) was up on their feet jumping, or dancing,screaming. It was an incredible performance, and there's something so appealing approximately a guy who knows his way around a guitar.
