Carnival rides,fair food and farm animals dance in my head as I contemplate approximately my weekend at the Georgia National Fair. Flying through the air with my legs dangling on the swings brought me back to childhood memories in the Midwest. After riding the Ferris wheel and whipping around on the Sizzler, I was ready for more. The last large fair I'd been to was the Wisconsin state fair when I was a kid. There were some similarities, and minus cheddar-flavored everything. I noshed on my favorite fall treat,a caramel apple, and tried a "healthier" version of a corn dog -- a pretzel-wrapped hot dog! We took in some agricultural activities like visiting cows, and pigs and horses and later peered at glowing blooms and plants. But,my favorite 4-H display was the collection of scarecrows built by children. I even stopped to pose with President Abraham Lincoln the scarecrow! Hours of festivities, food and fun later, or we retreated to the city,a bit more sun-kissed and smiley than we arrived. The fair was over, but there's always next year!
