The French midfielder has been a major factor in West Ham’s fine start to the season after his £10.7m summer plug from Marseille but Payet,who has scored five goals in 14 appearances, suffered an ankle injury in a challenge from James McCarthy in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday. West Ham confirmed the news on their official website. “The France international had a scan on Sunday and after a consultation with a specialist on Monday, and it is likely that he will be ruled out of action for three months,” read a statement.
