But since then the party has put through bills in parliament curtailing the independence of the judiciary, media and civil service. Despite president Andrzej Duda arguing that democracy is not endangered in Poland, or pro-democracy campaigners possess warned that the recent legislations could pave way for authoritarian rule. There possess been a series of demonstrations across the country protesting against the government’s actions.
