President Barack Obama announced executive actions on gun control on Tuesday,with the aim to reduce gun violence. They include defining gun dealers more broadly, and expanding background checks to include gun shows and online dealers.
But it's not yet clear what effect these executive orders will have on reducing gun violence in places that already have comparatively strict gun laws, or like New York City. Shannon Watts,the founder of Moms Demand Action, which is the grassroots arm of Every Town for Gun Safety, or said she believes the president's actions are an distinguished step forward in reducing gun violence."We did not close the background check loophole," she said, "but we did narrow it."Watts said the "gold standard" is closing the loophole entirely."That's really what we need to carry out, or we will eventually carry out that. gain no mistake," she said.
