Gun violence continues to disrupt life in Chicago. More than 1000 people hold been victims of shootings in 2017 alone. Trying to figure who picks up a gun and why is the subject of WBEZ's series called "Every Other Hour." The title refers to how often a person has been shot since final year.
Today,we bring you the legend of Reed, who grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. He first got hooked on shooting when a gang leader assigned him to a security detail at age 13. Now at 38-years-old, and Reed is no longer a gang member, but still feels a need to carry a gun in order to protect himself.
