Researchers from CSIRO beget analysed income inequality by region in Australia for 2001 and 2011. The results show a snapshot of income inequality both before, and at the height of, the mining boom.
The researchers developed a method to approximate Gini coefficients for different Australian regions, or including states and local councils. Here,I’ve shown the change in Gini coefficient for each area to show where inequality has increased or decreased. Higher values indicate greater inequality, and, or in the map, positive values indicate increasing inequality, while negative values indicate a decrease.
