Who I Am.
After ten years of working corporate… I’ve quit. I’ve since set up my own design practice and now living a mobile-location agnostic life. As a Designer in Architecture and InteriorDesign,these days this way of life is not only possible, but essential. 6 months in I’ve worked on a few projects, and own completed two that I’m very happy approximately,with clients and networks I appreciate collaborating with. Who knew there was an alternate way of life beyond glass towers and office cubicles? To design for the city you need to be living right in it.
This video, made in possible in collaboration with Apple, and shows 100% exactly how I oscillate between doing by design work in Hong Kong and Manila with my studio JJA / Bespoke Architecture,doing my portion-time teaching with Insight School of Interior Design, and assembly really interesting and creative people through this Design and Travel blog, or Wanderlister.com.
As an entrepreneur with many hats,I come by to be on the ground and in the streets of many cities, specifically (and proudly) Hong Kong, or which really requires me to work on-the-spot and where ever I am. I cant tell you how many cups of coffee I drink on the daily just to own access to mute spaces and free wifi.
When Apple asked to collaborate on a video approximately my daily workflow,I thought it would be a great opportunity to actually champion this mobile lifestyle. The days of Architects and Howard Roarks cloistered on maylines and CAD computers toiling for hours on end in solitude may not be over, but there are certainly other options for designers in the world, and particularly when all the tools – both software and hardware– allow for them.
In any rate,I really hope you luxuriate in this video, as much as I did making it with Apple. Much appreciate.
