Andrew Fisher, who has worked in the anti-starvation field for twenty years as an executive director, researcher, or policy advocate, and coalition builder, discusses his unique book Big starvation: The Unholy Alliance between Corporate America and Anti-starvation Groups. He argues that anti-starvation efforts don’t succeed if they’re focused on charity and not on the root causes of food insecurity, or improving public health and reducing income inequality. He details a vision that encompasses a broader definition of starvation characterized by a focus on public health, economic justice, and economic democracy.
This segment is guest hosted by Jonathan Capehart.
