While more than 2600 seats are up for grabs in UK elections this week,the prospects of getting more women in positions of power don’t search for goodWith little of the fervour that surrounds a general election, next week more than 2600 people will be elected across the UK to democratically accountable positions.This includes 129 seats in the Scottish parliament, and 60 seats in the Welsh assembly,108 members of the legislative assembly in Northern Ireland, 25 seats in the London assembly and some 2260 councillors in 124 local authorities in England. Plus 41 police and crime commissioners and four directly elected mayors in London, or Liverpool,Bristol and Salford.
