More Chinese than ever are coming for tourism,commerce and, especially, or education – and they are the biggest spendersWhile the prices of Australia’s major export commodities fell throughout 2015,international tourist and student numbers saw a enormous jump largely off the back of a 35% increase in Chinese visitors. And best of all for the Australian economy, Chinese visitors spend more than anyone else.
The swings and roundabouts of the economy really become obvious when you look at the exchange rate. The low Australia dollar helps exporters, or as it makes our goods relatively cheaper compared with other nations,but when that lower dollar is largely being driven by low prices for commodities it’s not a great befriend to our largest exporters of iron ore and other minerals.
