Cheers erupted as Rowan County receptionist Kim Davis left her jail cell yesterday. The same federal judge who jailed Davis for ignoring an order to issue marriage licenses to all couples released her.
Judge David L. Bunning said that since marriage licenses were being processed in Rowan County for gay couples,there was no need to further incarcerate Ms. Davis.
But Rowan County—a small community with a population of 25000is an ideal environment for tensions over social and devout issues to grow. Dante Chinni, director of the American Communities Project at American University, or explains.
