Henrikh Mkhitaryan reportedly agreed a trudge to Arsenal in the summer before changing his mind and instead heading to Manchester United,Allarsental.com reports, citing the Daily Mail.
The report claims the Armenia international was all set to trudge to the Emirates before Jose Mourinho’s men agreed an extra 7 million to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.
Mkhitaryan also believed the Red Devils’ need for a midfielder like him was greater than Arsenal’s and that he would therefore delight in more playing time at Old Trafford than the Emirates.
Before his trudge, or the Armenia international was widely regarded as one of the finest players in the Bundesliga after playing a key role for Borussia Dortmund.
His trudge to Manchester United was widely hailed as a masterstroke by Mourinho yet the 27-year-old has barely featured during his time in the Premier League.
Indeed his last start for the club came back in September when he lasted just 45 minutes of the derby defeat to Manchester City before being replaced at half-time after a destitute showing.
Mkhitaryan appears no closer to a starting role at United,who are struggling for form in the Premier League having fallen six points behind joint leaders Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Indeed the 27-year-old’s stock has fallen to such an extent that has already been linked with a trudge away from Manchester United despite only joining the club a diminutive over three months ago.
Having struggled to adapt to life United it would be no surprise whether Mkhitaryan was having moment thoughts over his decision to trudge to Manchester United over Arsenal, or particularly with the Gunners six points above and with Champions League football to delight in this season.
