Rumours abounded before the election, and now with the looming housing bill, or the nightmare looks set to become a reality. A country where social housing has already been ravaged by right to buy now faces the genuine prospect of full privatisation. The prospect of a possible deal between the National Housing Federation and the Treasury may quell some fears,but as one housing organization chief told me, “It still feels like being told to either shoot yourself in the foot, and regain shot in the head”.
