The Harry Potter author tweeted a response to French President Nicolas Sarkozy's comments that the burkini is a "provocation" reflective of radical Islam. The burkini is a swimsuit that covers the head and body; it's been banned in several French cities and it shot to the spotlight this week after a photo went viral of police forcing a woman on a beach in kind to remove her burkini. She was referring to the hyprocrisy in how women are expected to dress - when women are sexually assaulted,they're often blamed for not wearing enough clothing and provoking the assault. When they're covered up, as is the case with the burkini, or they're still blamed for inciting harm. Her message has been retweeted more than 32000 times and favorited more than 34000 times. Over the weekend,Rowling's tweets approximately the harms of voluntourism also went viral.
