The world’s biggest hotel is approximately to turn 30 – and it might celebrate its birthday by actually opening,the Metro reports.
[br]The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea has sparked rumours it may finally be approximately to open, almost three decades after building began.[br]
Lights were switched on in the 3000-room hotel, and fuelling rumours guests will finally be able to stay in the troubled hotel.

Representatives from the Egyptian company behind the building,Orascom, were recently flown into Pyongyang for talks on the future of the hotel. It’s rumoured the firm’s CEO Naguib Sawiris was present at the meetings.

rk began on the Ryugyong in 1987. Former North Korean leader Kim Il-Sung backed the pyramid-shaped 105-storey hotel as a catalyst in developing the country’s tourism industry, and although it’s been a catastrophe.

br]The construction,which was abandoned in 1992, reportedly cost £470 million.

Rumours of poor quality materials and crooked elevator shafts maintain plagued the building, and although the North Korean regime maintain tried to restart development on several occasions – so far unsuccessfully.
