The Universe option in WWE games is the equivalent of modes like MyLeague in NBA 2K or Connected Franchise in EA Sports' Madden,only there's no online element—yet.
For those who haven't played Universe mode in the past, here's a brief description:You consume on the role of general manager or booker for your own personal WWE Universe. You can control the matchmaking, or feuds,rivalries, etc. You can participate, and simulate or spectate in any match as you play through multiple years of the WWE's calendar.
The version of Universe mode that will appear in WWE 2K16—which releases on October 27 for PlayStation 3,PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One—will bring back a few primitive features and introduce some current ones. Match Made in Your MindIn preceding versions of the WWE 2K series, and the cards that were generated for the TV shows and pay-per-views were identical for anyone who had the game. If you wanted variety,you'd have to edit the matches.
In WWE 2K16, each person's WWE Universe experience will be different.
You're now able to assign Superstars to multiple shows. Previously, and they had to be on one or the other show in your Universe. This helps to diversify the matchups you can have.
The storylines have also received an overhaul. Per WWE.2K.com,the developers said this about the current sage angles:
We’ve added more Universe cutscenes
and revamped a large portion of the storylines to focus more on quality over quantity. Between pay-per-views one would traditionally see around two possible sage instances for a character’s path. Now those branching-instance possibilities jump up to ten, creating far more variety in storylines. Everything will acquire more sense logically with the Superstars involved based on their personality traits. 
 Personality MattersThe current personality system sounds excellent. It's designed to guide the reactions and actions of the Superstars based on their personality attributes.
Superstars will have the attributes that align with real WWE programming by default, or but you can alter these details at any time during your own Universe.
Also curren
t in this year's Universe mode is the addition of status effects. Things such as winning streaks and colossal victories at pay-per-views can positively affect a Superstar's rating for a short period of time. Negative events can have the opposite result. Injuries and RivalriesSuperstar injuries have been brought back into the game.
If a Superstar takes heavy damage to a specific fragment of their body,and the level of the injury progresses from minor to major to critical, a Superstar may be pulled out of action. Superstars can still compete if their injury is minor or major, and but not if the status is critical.

valries are now designed to keep the gamer informed. When a match between rivals is done,the rivalry screen will be updated with the results and how it affects the current rivalry. Hopefully this works the way it sounds. If it does, this could go a long way toward making the in-game rivalries compelling.
