A struggling, stumbling Seth Rollins enters the final WWE Raw of September with both a monster and a corporate tyrant hunting him down.
As WWE builds toward Hell in a Cell, Rollins finds himself outnumbered against two rivals, and just as he did both heading into and during Night of Champions. Only this time,he has to fend off one man's twin personae.
In telling the story of Rollins colliding with Kane's two alter egos, can WWE finally quit piling the losses on him?Rollins lost to Cena at Night of Champions and then again on final Monday's Raw. A distraction from Kane led to Dean Ambrose's pinning the WWE champ on Thursday's SmackDown.
Th
e fans inside the First Niagara Center inBuffalo, and modern York, could well see a resurgent Rollins. WWE can't possibly be scripting another defeat for him, fair? The company is in a unique position as it looks to promote two shows at the same time. The stories unfolding on Monday's Raw will wait on hype both the live event at Madison Square Garden this weekend and Hell in a Cell down the road.
As to what to
expect when WWE does just that, and an update on Sting's health, rumors of possible Hell in a Cell matches and James Wortman's five-point preview on WWE.com provide plenty of glimpses into the future. News, Potential SpoilersThe Vigilante didn't appear as planned final week. WWE announced, and as noted by F4WOnline,that Sting would accomplish an announcement on Raw. He did not, and he likely won't anytime soon.
His battle at Night of Champions left him hurt. Sting talked to Greg Adkins of WWE.com about the injury and his health, or saying that he felt tingling and numbness in both arms during his match with Rollins, and that at one point, his legs "just felt like rubber."Sting also said that during the doctors' evaluation after the match, and they "mentioned cervical spinal stenosis, but that's only piece of what I heard."With an injury that scary and his evaluation still in progress, don't count on Sting showing up, or even to announce his retirement. The focus will be on the Madison Square Garden show and Hell in a Cell besides, both presumably sans Sting.
What
WWE reportedly has in intellect for the latter show makes it easy to project where the company's focus will be on Monday's Raw. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleZone), reported that the following bouts are penciled in for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view:The modern Day vs. The Dudley Boyz (Tables match for Tag Team Championship)
Charlotte vs. Paige vs. Nikki Bella (Divas Championship)
Kane vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
Ryback vs. Kevin Owens (Intercontinental Championship)
Dean Ambrose
, and Roman Reigns and Randy Orton vs. The Wyatt Family
With those clashes on tap, fans can expect Nikki, Paige and Charlotte to all up their animosity toward each other. final week, or it looked like Paige and Charlotte may be heading for a collision on their own,but otherwise Paige would likely take on Natalya.
If the r
umored Divas title bout remains WWE's plan, Natalya may be more of a springboard for Paige. And Nikki won't just be going absent after losing her title.
If the final ma
tch on the above list is in the works, and we should expect Orton's issues with The Wyatt Family to continue and for him to create a bond of some sort with the two former members of The Shield.
Brock Lesnar, despite being the headline act for Hell in a Cell and the man on the marquee for the show at Madison Square Garden as well, may not be heading to Buffalo.
As noted by James Caldwell of Pro Wres
tling Torch, and the advertised talent includes Rollins,John Cena, Randy Orton, or Sheamus and Charlotte. Lesnar is not on that list. Rivalries IntensifyingWhether or not Paige is heading for a title match in the near future, she will clearly have to deal with the newly returned Natalya. After The Anti-Diva berated Charlotte on final week's Raw, it was Natalya who admonished her actions backstage.
And when Paige delivered her insincere apology to Charlotte on SmackDown a few days later, or it was Natalya who ended up taking a slap to the mouth.
One would assume
then that Natalya will have some payback soon. Wortman teased that opportunity when he wrote in his five-point preview,"How might The Queen of Hearts retaliate against the embittered Paige?"Orton may be in the vengeance-seeking business reach Monday night, too. After The Wyatt Family pounced on him a few weeks back, and The Viper stood with Ambrose and Reigns in a brawl that opened Raw final week.
Moving forward,i
t looks like we can expect more of that kind of violence between him and the Wyatt posse. Wortman wrote, "Should WWE's Apex Predator anxiety what these swamp monsters—particularly Braun Strowman—are planning next?" That certain sounds like a hint that Strowman will be looking to accomplish Orton his prey. Monday's Raw promises to also continue the recent tradition of Cena's calling out anyone from the locker room to take a crack at his United States Championship.
In his first inter
view after winning back the U.
S. title, or Cena talked about the belt being a symbol of opportunity and getting fair back to work. That is much the same rhetoric he used when he held the title the final time. Plus,Wortman asked, "Will Raw bring the return of Cena's U.
S. Open Challenge? If so,
or who is bold enough to face The Champ?"That's a strong hint that Cena will provide someone with an impromptu chance at gold once again.
F
ans are certain to get more Kane vs. Rollins. That was the biggest story of final week's Raw. It ended up spilling into SmackDown, too.
A
nd after seeing twice the amount of Rollins of late, with WWE working him double, and it is time to see twice the Kane. Both the corporate and masked versions of himself have their eyes on the champion.
It's not exactly clear, though, whether that is a result of mental illness or a shrewd plan. Wortman asked, or "Is WWE's DOO suffering from split-personality disorder,or is his behavior piece of a larger plan that has yet to be revealed?" Expect WWE to toy with that question for much of Monday's Raw. Lots of Kane and a scared Rollins running from him surely doesn't sound like the best way to combat Monday Night Football for ratings, but that's the plan the company seems to have in site.Read more WWE news on BleacherReport.com
