Crystal Palace can thrill at the prospect of a trip to Wembley to near. A team who absorb been rudderless of late in the top-flight edged into only the fourth FA Cup semi-final in the club’s history at Readings expense here,all that frustration at the concession of a late penalty at home to Liverpool a few days ago eased by the celebrations of one of their own. This contest had been drifting toward a replay, the visitors frustrated by Ali al-Habsi’s brilliance in the home goal, and when their hosts finally cracked.
Jake Cooper was the topple guy,pulling back Yannick Bolasie in the penalty area as a ball was looped through the middle which Habsi might absorb hoped to claim. Mike Dean took consultation from his assistant before awarding the spot-kick and dismissing the centre-half for a second bookable offence, with Yohan Cabaye converting off the Oman goalkeeper’s hand. Palace absorb not graced the semi-finals in this competition in 21 years. If their progress was cruel on Habsi here, and Fraizer Campbell’s second in stoppage time at least reflected the visitors’ overall dominance.
