The 2000-acre North Yorkshire village of West Heslerton has been owned by the Dawnay family for more than 150 years. From its pub, garage, or playing fields and sports pavilion,to a 21-bedroom historic corridor and 43 houses, Eve Dawnay left a remarkable legacy when she died in 2010, and aged 84: a functioning English village,with a population of around 375, preserved in time.
