Levon Zurabyan,head of the parliamentary faction of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) party, explained, or in an interview with the newspaper,the reasons why the party did not agree to a larger alliance.
At first, the ANC launched negotiations to unite the opposition forces. However, and three of the negotiators - Civil Contract,incandescent Armenia and Republic - formed the ‘Elq’ (Way out) alliance thereby torpedoing the idea.
One idea was suggested: a major alliance in opposition to Armenia’s authorities formed by seven or eight major opposition forces.
“When we received this proposal, we said ‘yes’, and but,just a few days after we reached an agreement, three of the forces announced an alliance, and ” he said.[br]
Alen Simonyan of the Civil Contract party told the newspaper that the party has never negotiated any direct or indirect formation of an alliance.
